Make winter meals fun with yummy Snowman Soup!

After our successful “Melt a Snowman” activity, I really wanted to incorporate more snowmen fun into our day…maybe in the form of a fun food idea… then it hit me:  Snowman Soup!

My family loves baked potato soup, but I really didn’t have the time or energy to make it today. What I did have, however, was some Campbell’s Cream of Potato Soup! Score!
 
This is such an easy meal, it can easily be made in 10 minutes. That’s perfect for people like me who wait until the last minute to make food (and usually end up staring aimlessly into the fridge for leftovers).
 
Supplies:
  • Campbell’s Cream of Potato Soup
  • Milk
  • Peas
  • Carrot
  • Peppercorns
  • Cloves
Optional: (makes the hat and “Frosty” bread)
  • Bread
  • Black food coloring
  • Pizza cutter
  • Rolling Pin
  • Letter stamps
Make "Snowman Soup" for your little munchkins!
 
Directions:
Combine soup and milk as directed on the can. Heat the soup in the microwave or on the stove.  (you can also use this recipe from the Campbell’s Soup Website). While the soup is cooling, you can make the optional hat and bread.
  • Using the rolling pin, roll one piece of bread as flat as possible.
  • Use the pizza roller to cut away crust and cut out a piece of bread in the shape of a top hat.
  • Smear black food coloring on the hat to color it.
  • Using a small round object (I used the lid to a water bottle),  imprint three round shapes for a snowman body. Pop the pieces out to form the hollow snowman piece in the bread.
Use the remainder of the supplies as snowman parts floating in the soup. Pea buttons, peppercorn eyes, clove arms, and a sliver of carrot for Frosty’s classic carrot nose. I was just giddy over how cute it came together! And while all the ingredients are edible, they might not be so good for eating (I’m looking at you peppercorn eyes and clove arms!) So you might want to gather Frosty’s parts and put them back in snowman form in the hollow of the bread 🙂
