Well today was a fun day…

Both my boys are getting over colds and teething at the same time. Let me tell you- they were GRUMPY! It’s days like today that I throw my schedule and to-do list out the window in favor of just staying sane. It just so happened that one thing on my to-do list was going to the grocery store, but I was not about to takes my two grumpy cuties to the store. So I tried to make do with whatever I could scrape up in the kitchen when I remembered this fantastic book I recently checked out from our local library: Top 100 Finger Foods by Annabel Karmel

In it is a recipe for Tortilla Pizza Margherita (with homemade pizza sauce). The recipe is SOOO simple with ingredients I already had on hand. So I grabbed one of Cannon’s current favorite books (Pizza by Saturnino Romay) and had him help me whip up a quick snack.

(Note about the book: I picked it up at a thrift store and thought it was a bit simple. Jut one word per page about how pizzas are made. It turned out to be a fantastic book which we pantomime each step in pizza making. My son adores reading it!)

Spread the sauce. Sprinkle the cheese.

Test the sauce 😉

(Skipping several steps…)

Bake, cut, and enjoy the pizza!

Now when we read the book together, Cannon will be able to connect actual memories of performing the tasks with the vocabulary in the book. And the snack wasn’t too bad either 🙂 We may be repeating this activity in the future!
